The Honeymoon~Prince Edward Island

~Green Gables~
For our honeymoon we went to Prince Edward Island. When I was young my mother would read the Anne of Green Gables books me. As I got older I fell in love with the movies and the beautiful scenery that was in them. I was so excited when Tim told me he was taking me there for our Honeymoon! It was wonderful. The only drawback was that we went at the end of September and the tourist season ends Labor Day. But we still had a great time exploring the back roads and coastlines of this beautiful island. PEI's main crop is potatoes. You would see potatoes on the road all the time from where they fell off trucks. I can't believe that I did not take a picture. I would love to go back some day. Since I am raising another generation of "Anne" lovers they have informed me that they get to go too! Sounds like a great framily vacation, I had better start saving my pennies now.

~View from our cabin~

We got to our cabin when it was dark and did not know that we had a veiw of the ocean untill the next day.

~West Point Lighthouse~

We got to go up in this lighthouse. It was the last day before they closed for the season. Go here to read about the Light.

TAGGED~I'M IT

I have been tagged a couple of times, and since I have enjoyed learning new things about others, here are the seven "overwhelmingly interesting" facts about myself.

  1. I was born in Africa. My parents were missionaries. I did not see the USA until I was 2 1/2.

  2. I got my "baby" shots when I was 18. Evidently all the ones I got in Africa were the wrong on ones.

  3. I have had 12 kids. (Foster kids)

  4. I volunteered for 5 years at a Crisis Pregnancy Center.

  5. I totaled Tim's favorite sports car that he wanted to keep until it was an antique.

  6. I have never received a warning from a cop-just tickets(3). Tim has been stopped well over a dozen times but only gotten three tickets.

  7. I worked for a Fur Store before I was married. I made and put linings in coats worth over Ten Thousand dollars.

There you have it. Since most every one I know has been tagged, I will not tag anyone else.

Happy Anniversary to US!

Fifteen years ago on September 25, 1992, we started our journey together. What a ride. There have been ups and downs, good and bad, happy and sad, rough and smooth. But we have been through it all together- AND WE'VE HAD FUN! One of the first things I liked about Tim when I met him was his great since of humor. He still makes me laugh, usually every day. You can get through a lot when you laugh and have fun together.
Thanks, Tim, for the 15 great years. Thanks for bring a great Dad. Thanks for loving God and being firm in what you believe. I love you so much.

When I tried this dress on I knew it was the one.Still love it.

Sonic

We ate at Sonic while we were on vacation this summer and feel in love. So we were very excited when we found out that one was being built very close to home. the kids have begged us to drive by several times to see if they were open. Finally I got their number and called last week. Today was the big day. We went and had lunch. It was very busy--and very good.

Flowers

I know that Fall is officially here but I wanted to share some pictures of my flowers that I have been enjoying this summer. They are called Tidal Wave Petunias. They started out as 6(I think) small plants, now they are taking over my sidewalk. They are so easy to grow, they do not even have to be dead headed.

Two years ago grandma gave the kids their own tomato plants in containers. They enjoyed watching them grow, and eating the tomatoes. Last year we landscaped this side of the house where the tomato were the year before. We had to pull up some tomato plants that were growing. About a month ago the kids told me that a tomato plant was growing again. Now it is taking over my flowerbed! But the kids are enjoying the tomatoes(Tim and I don"t like them). Who knew that tomato plants came up every year.

Blue Ash Air Show

Here are some pictures from our weekend. Last week I really pushed the kids in school. They did great and got a lot of work done. We rewarded them Saturday with a trip to the Blue Ash Air show. We have been to this before, but it has been several years. They have a lot of stuff for kids, a great air show, and kids 12 and under are FREE! The show was opened with three sky divers. One jumped with an American flag. It was the largest flag ever used in a jump. It was 5,000 square feet. What a beautiful sight!

Labor Day and Yard Sale

I know that Labor Day is a distant memory to most of you, but I know that my nieces and nephews are just dying to be published on my blog:-) so I am posting pictures of our Labor Day weekend.
My sister and her family, and my Dad came for the weekend, and brothers, came for Saturday. We had a great time. It was wonderful to have everyone together.
Saturday morning my bil Rob went to a yard sale, so of course the girls had to go with him. They had great fun. After lunch, all the guys took all the kids(11 kids~ages 5-19) to the park. (Thanks Rob) My sister, sister-in-law, and myself had a nice time sitting on the deck visiting. After the guys got back with the kids, they went and played golf. Hmm~do you think that's way they volunteered to take the to the park? While they were golfing, I came inside and most of the kids were playing video games of some kind. It was quiet a scene. Brittany was the only one not playing. She had gotten a hand held sewing machine at a yard sale that morning. She decided to make some clothes for her doll.
I have been to my sister's many, many, times. It was great to have them here, and take my turn at entertaining them.

Labor Day

All of our company left on Monday and I started focusing on getting the meal together for Oscar Johnson's funeral on Wednesday. They told us to plan for 150 people. This was my first big thing since becoming courtesy committee chairman. They ladies from my church are great. They pitched in and really helped and there was plenty of food. Oscar will be greatly missed. I am glad that I could be a small part to help the family during this time.

I had been planning on having a yard sale Saturday with some other families at our church parking lot. So Thursday I turned my focus to getting that together. I had known all summer that I wanted to have one sometime, so thankfully I had a lot of stuff already together. We had a pretty good turnout and I did pretty good. Most of what didn't sell went to Goodwill, so I felt like it was successful.
On a sad note, my girls thought that they had outgrown their kitchen set. They decided to sell it and get a desk for their room. It was another reminder that they are growing up. I wanted to shed a few tears but I didn't. A good friend bought it so it kind of feels like it stayed in the family.
Click on the picture below for more pics of the yard sale.

This week I have been "recovering" from last week. We usually try to go to National Quartet Convention one night. This year I just did not feel like making the trip and getting home at 2:00 am, so we signed up to see watch it on our computer. It cost 59.95 and you get the whole week. It was cheaper than going and we get to see a lot more of it. We have really been enjoying it. We just got done watching the Singing News Fan Awards.

I guess that catches you up on our lives. I hope I don't go so long with out updating again~ it takes to long to do a post when I do!

911~MAY WE NEVER FORGET

Has that fateful day become a distant memory? Have we gone back to our "normal" lives as though nothing ever happened? Do we just pause one day out of the year to remember? My thoughts and prayers are with those whose lives were change forever and life will never again be "normal".
